The Coffee Shop Monday’s full crew is back together! Please visit the links above to see the photos of our adventures and of the coffee shops we visit.

On this breezy clear day, we jumped in the car and headed back to Saint Louis. Right in the middle of downtown, we found our next location: Catalyst Coffee Bar.

The coffee shop is an extension of Art Saint Louis, a non profit art gallery open to the public. It allows local artists from all around to display their creations. Catalyst serves as a way to provide income right back into the museum. A catalyst to the gallery, if you will!

Walking in, there is a large chalkboard mural across the wall of a sprawling city, a hand holding a sign saying “Meet me at Catalyst.” on the bottom right. The set up was simple. High tops facing the bright windows, white chairs and wooden tables all about, and just a few espresso and coffee machines around. Simple, but it gets the job done. I think the whole idea of the coffee shop was to really let the art nearby take the spotlight.

The gallery was unfortunately not set up, as they were in between exhibits that is displayed monthly. Art was laying against the walls, ready to be hung. There were some really beautiful paintings and photos, it’s a shame we couldn’t see them hung up in their full glory. Maybe next time!

The menu was very traditional, offering “the usuals”…. Lattes, teas, espressos. They had a few options for international coffees, but since I was running on fumes at that point, I ordered a traditional cold brew, while my boyfriend ordered his usual chai latte. You can’t really go wrong with a cold brew, and this place got it exceptionally right. Not too strong, refreshing, icy, just right to put the spring in my dragging steps. My boyfriend said his latte was a little plain, but after adding some sugar he drank it happily.

So, final thoughts about this place…. It was very simplistic and an ideal place to grab something to drink and appreciate local artists in Saint Louis. Good coffee, good music, good views. If you’re in the city, I would swing by.

Until next Monday! Over and out.
