Still in lovely Chicago, we head to our next coffee shop in high spirits and also highly considering just moving here forever. We were still tired trying to pack in all the sights of this city in a short time, so I was absolutely down to hit another coffee shop to get that caffeine back in me.

Like I said in my last post, to decide on just a couple coffee shop where there is one on every corner was hard…. Our head spun just looking at all the results of good coffee shops in town. We actually found our next coffee shop walking to another possible idea that ended up not working out so well.

Located in Logan Square (where Milwaukee meets California, as they say) the bright orange lettering of the place drew us in, and became our next subject:

Colectivo Coffee.

This place had to be the brightest of any coffee shops we have ever been to. With most shops, the colors are subdued and everything is on the darker side to give it a cozy wind down feel. This place had color on the mind.

With bright orange garage doors on the front, colorful chairs inside and outside on their deck area, plants hanging from the ceiling, pops of color EVERYWHERE, how could this place not catch our eye and draw us in. It almost reminded me of my many times in Mexico.

It was busy when we entered, almost all the seats were filled with people talking or people working. There was high top seating facing the garage doors, so me any my boyfriend sat there to people watch.

The menu was vast, including food and drinks. Of course the menu was colorful itself to keep with the overall theme of the place. Being a huge fan of horchata, I got something called horchata cold brew along with their breakfast bowl called Baja Breakfast. (while in Chicago, might as well try all the food you can, right?) My boyfriend got his classic chai latte, but this time decided on getting a huge and plenty frosted cinnamon roll.

The hustle and bustle of the city surrounded us as we waited for our drinks and food. We saw a wide variety of people walk back and fourth from the large garage door windows. The feeling of wanting to just stay here forever settled on us again. Imagine how many other cool coffee shops like this one were around here that we could experience every day if we wanted to. Oh well, a girl can dream can’t she?

Our treats arrived, and we were ready. My horchata cold brew was amazing. Once again it reminded me of my time in Mexico and having homemade horchata, with that delicious cinnamon kick. My boyfriend’s chai once again reminded him of Christmas. Our food was off the charts. My bowl had eggs, rice, beans, salsa, guacamole, radish and a slice of lime. A little spicy, and very filling. My boyfriends cinnamon roll was huge and hit the spot.

Verdict? This place was a stray from our usual dark cozy places we visit, instead it goes for a colorful Latin feel. It was a nice eye opening place on the gloomy rainy day in Chicago. If you’re in Logan Square, I would absolutely check it out.

Until next time, who knows where we’ll end up next. Thanks all!
