Back in town. It’s bittersweet, heading back to southern Illinois after our amazing trip to Chicago. But that’s not deterring us! Onwards with our coffee shop Monday’s!

Today we head back to St. Charles, Missouri, historic downtown St. Charles in fact. Down the cobblestone roads and tucked away between the many tiny stores and vintage shops, is our next coffee shop:

Picasso’s Coffee Shop.

Waking in, of course art was the focus. Art hung all along the walls, my favorite being painted pictures of various famous artists drinking coffee. Painted coffee bean bags were displayed, and they even had a long bench on the second level fully hand painted. Very appropriate for the name.

The place had multiple levels, with a fireplace on the second level we sat at. Talk about roomy and peaceful in here. A perfect place for the aspiring creative mind to flourish.

The menu was simple, but offered something for every taste you might have. Coffee made from beans in St. Louis, and teas and smoothies. Food and alcoholic drinks were even available if coffee wasn’t your thing. (But then why are you even at a coffee shop…. ha!)

Now you’re going to have to sit down at this, but I actually didn’t order any strong coffee today. It was a hot day, and me and my boyfriend had visited almost every store on the entire block, so I wanted something cold but not as heavy as coffee. My boyfriend got his lovely chai latte and I ordered something called an “Iced Caramel”.

Like I mentioned before, we sat on the second level. We were pleased by the glassware we were offered. I guess Chicago really spoiled us and we didn’t think we were going to get anything as pretty presented as we did… but Picasso’s surprised us! I got mine in a gorgeous mason jar and my boyfriend in a big white mug.

Taste? Heaven. Sweet sweet caramel taste and it perfectly hit the spot. Refreshing, cold, and light. Refueled me for the more window shopping we were most likely going to do.

So there we sat, watching the roads be closed off for an eventual music festival, and we took in the sights. I really wish I knew how to paint because this place just really made you want to buckle down and be creative. I loved it.

If you’re ever window shopping in pretty historic St. Charles, I would absolutely recommend checking this place out! Sit awhile and refresh and recharge after a long walk down the cobblestone roads.

Until next time, who knows where we’ll end up next.
